"Let's make things better" is a pledge that we at Philips make to ourselves and to the world. We apply it to our products and to everything we do. "Let's Connect" is part of that philosophy. The program was developed to raise awareness of the need for better communication between middle school age children and their parents -- and to help provide the skills they both need to achieve that goal. This age group was chosen because it is a time of rapid change for kids, parents and how they relate to one another.

In addition to this Web site, "Let's Connect" includes a national survey of parents and their middle-school-age children and a series of communication workshops for parents and kids at middle schools across the country. The workshops feature Lawrence Kutner, Ph.D., one of the country's best-known child psychologists, and Arjay Smith, star of the Nickelodeon show "The Journey of Allen Strange," and Michelle Trachtenberg, star of the Nickelodeon movie Harriet the Spy" and the show "The Adventures of Pete and Pete."
